چکیده

BACKGROUND The purpose of this study was to explore the association between 2 single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in the dopamine β-hydroxylase (DBH) gene (rs1611115 and rs732833) and the susceptibility to Parkinson's disease (PD). MATERIAL AND METHODS Polymerase chain reaction direct sequencing (PCR-DS) was used to test the genotypes of DBH polymorphisms in 95 PD patients and 100 healthy examinees frequency-matched with the former by age and sex. The genotype and allele distribution differences between the case and control groups were analyzed by chi-square test, and the relative risk of PD in southern Chinese populations was expressed by odds ratio (OR) and 95% confidence interval (CI). Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium (HWE) was also checked by chi-square test. RESULTS The genotype and allele distribution frequencies in rs1611115 were obviously different between PD patients and the healthy control group (P<0.05). The TT genotype may lead to a 2.95 times higher risk of PD occurrence compared with the common genotype CC (OR=2.95, 95%CI=1.02-8.51), and the C allele increased risk of onset of PD (OR=1.81, 95%CI=1.17-2.82). Cognition of the PD patients was different between CC and CT+TT genotypes of rs1611115 (P=0.047). CONCLUSIONS DBH rs1611115 polymorphism was likely to be associated with the susceptibility to PD, but we did not find that rs732833 is a susceptibility marker for PD.

Analysis of polymorphisms in the dopamine beta hydroxylase gene: association with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder in Indian children.

OBJECTIVE To study the association of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and polymorphism in the dopamine beta hydroxylase (DBH) gene in Indian ADHD cases. SUBJECTS Forty one ADHD cases were diagnosed as per the DSM-IV-TR criteria and evaluated by Conners Parents and Teachers Rating Scale and Wechslers Intelligence Scale for Children. The Survey of DBH Gene Polymorphism Rs5320 in Children with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)

Background Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a common behavioral disorder that affects 8-12% of school-age children. Several environmental and genetic factors play a role in the etiology of this disease. One of the genetic factors involved is dopamine beta-hydroxylase (DBH) gene, which plays an essential role in catecholamine synthesis by converting dopamine into norepinephrine...

Genotype-independent decrease in plasma dopamine beta-hydroxylase activity in Alzheimer's disease.

The noradrenergic system is involved in the etiology and progression of Alzheimer's disease (AD) but its role is still unclear. Dopamine beta-hydroxylase (DBH) as a catecholamine-synthesizing enzyme plays a central role in noradrenaline (NA) synthesis and turnover. Plasma DBH (pDBH) activity shows wide inheritable interindividual variability that is under genetic control. The aim of this study ...

Association between migraine and a functional polymorphism at the dopamine beta-hydroxylase locus

Migraine is a common neurological disorder with a significant genetic component. Although a number of linkage and association studies have been undertaken, the number and identity of all migraine susceptibility genes has yet to be defined. The existence of dopaminergic hypersensitivity in migraine has been recognised on a pharmacological basis and some studies have reported genetic association ...

Association between dopamine Beta-hydroxylase gene polymorphisms and attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder in korean children.

Attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a common disorder of the school-age population. ADHD is familial, and genetic studies estimate heritability at 80%-90%. The aim of the present study was to investigate the association between the genetic type and alleles for the dopamine beta-hydroxylase (DBH) gene in Korean children with ADHD. The sample consisted of 142 ADHD children and 139 ...
